About This Project
45.8 million people are trapped slavery around the world today. In brothels and factories, hidden in the shadows and darkness. Many driven there by poverty. Currently, there are 1.4 billion people living in extreme destitution.
We spend hundreds of millions of dollars every year on consumer goods. What if some of the choices we make could provide life-changing solutions to people in need of breaking the poverty cycle and set them free from slavery?
Introduction
The Global Slavery Index released in June 2016 estimates 45.8 million people enslaved in the world today. About 2 million children are exploited every year in the global commercial sex trade.
Women and girls make up 98% of victims of trafficking for sexual exploitation. It includes pornography, prostitution and sex trafficking of women and children. Each year, an estimated 800,000 women and children are trafficked across international borders. The girls were often driven into the sex trade or sold to human trafficking syndicates due to extreme poverty. Of that, nearly two-thirds are from impoverished Asian nations. Research shows that the average age of a trafficked victim is only 12 years old. Remember what our lives were like when we were 12?
Imagine the life this child has to lead till someone steps in to do something?
SHE Rescue Home is a safe-haven for child survivors of or those at risk of rape, prostitution, and human trafficking. It is a place of healing for the body, heart, and mind. It is a place of safety, belonging, and a sense of family. It is opportunity, education, employment, and hope for communities and a nation in need.
SHE Rescue Home exist for the restoration and healing of those affected by the injustice of sexual exploitation. To succumb to the enormity of the problem is to fail the one. SHE Rescue Home exist for the one; that together we may see young girls healed, loved, and empowered to be self sustaining change makers not only for themselves, but for their families and the generations to come. SHE Rescue Home believes that fighting the injustice against girls today is paramount for building a better and stronger world to come. While the landscape of injustice is vast, the ability to tangibly and successfully change the lives of girls and their families one by one will forever be the fuel. You may never know her name, you may never see her face but SHE MATTERS!
SHE Rescue Home provides a high security, safe home for survivors of sexual exploitation to find healing, wholeness, support, and love. Working closely and intimately with each survivor, tending to the hearts, bodies, and minds of young girls. The goal is always to reintegrate each girl back with her family and community, and to ensure it is one of safety and success, SHE Rescue Homewalks alongside each girl and her family or community for up to three years following her initial reintegration. Due to the severity of poverty and vulnerability leading to human trafficking in Cambodia, we seek to combat this cycle through our Family Assistance Program (FAP). FAP provides families with vocational training, financial management education, safe employment, and competitive wages. We sell these handmade products to sustain our programs and the life changing work of these young girls.
Providing Dignified Employment and Education
This fundraiser is to create dignified employment and training opportunities for the survivors seeking an alternative to the sex industry. This is essential to supporting the rehabilitation and independence of survivors. It provides hope and a sustainable future for the young girls.
Each support you make helps to secure freedom and restoration for the survivors. The items are also sold commercially online via the Generation 414 website which assist with empowering, rebuilding their self-worth and enabling financial independence to support themselves and their families in a safe and positive environment. Profits from products sold are channeled back to fund job creation initiatives to free more exploited girls and educational programs for the children.
Know that your support will directly assist a meaningful cause that seeks to make a positive change in the world.
We would be honoured if you would join us and support the changing of a young generation. Please hit “Support Now” and with each contribution, we would like to say thank you by sending you a gift made by the survivors themselves.
