Alam Khorshed, the dreamer of Chittagong Arts Complex
HERE WE GO
It’s simple. Chittagong needs an Arts Complex. All we need to do is provide a proper platform and the artists will do the rest. At this point, exciting talks and exhibitions can only house a limited amount
of sweaty people in our existing cramped space. Many are turned away because there is no room and often no electricity.
Bangladesh is on the move and Chittagong is teeming with a rising tide of youth full of creative ideas and thirsty for cultural activities. But in this international port
city there is no place that exhibits a range of quality arts programs on a regular basis. The human expertise is in place, what we need is physical space to expand into a permanent location for enhancing cultural activities. I have been self-financing this
tiny cultural space for more than 8 years and it is time to realize my original vision and widen into a true arts center dedicated to presenting local and international culture and supporting the creativity of the artists and artisans around.
We need your help to expand into an Arts Complex for Chittagong.
We have everything but a space to hold all of the exciting arts activities and become a more public element in the larger community. Financing the rental and renovation of a larger, arts-focused place is the springboard needed to create the proposed Complex.
To launch the project we need seed money to rent and maintain a larger and more suitable space, a place to grow and flourish. Membership fees, a bookstore, giftshop and cafe will pay for some of the running costs. Art sales and space rental will also contribute.
This is not the most comfortable way to experience cultural activities!
TWO TESTIMONIALS
"When I tell someone I am working with Alam Khorshed, they all say - He is a good man. With his finger on the pulse of the artistic and artisanal energies of the area, he has single-handedly and consistently
created exhibition & presentation opportunities in his hometown. The range is amazing - from explorers to flutists, from textile to paper crafters. Now is the time for everyone he has touched and supported to help establish an arts Complex that will be self-generating
and reach a wider audience. Anyone who cares about supporting the arts and wants to benefit people who have huge hearts and limited resources knows that this will have a great impact. Bangladesh, particularly Chittagong has the energy, it just needs some funding
to launch the project!"

"Alam is at the heart of cultural activities in Chittagong. He has been central in helping my institution, the Asian University for Women, reach out to the community. He made a connection
to a British-Bangladeshi theater director he knew to come and give a workshop to our students, which was the spark to create an elective arts course in the curriculum. He has been enriching our lives in Chittagong for years - now it is time for us to support
his dream, his vision to continue inspiring our city and bring to light the dynamic arts and debates occurring here. Give to the future of an Arts Complex for Chittagong--it will be an investment that will benefit all of us for years to come. Join
us in any way you can to make Alam's dream a reality, a vision that affects and supports so many others."

THE LAST WORD
I am urging you to treat this long cherished dream of mine as your own dream, be a fellow traveler, come on board and together we can make this happen. It takes a global community for real success. Culture
is universal and sharing the arts enhances everyone’s lives. With more space I can invite international and national figures to inspire and motivate younger generation. People are eager to come here but I can’t accept them now simply because I don’t have enough
room and logistics. I have used superhuman dedication to get this far and now it’s time for your moral & financial support and assistance for the benefit of the whole community. All donations are welcome and needed!
Please share this campaign with everyone you know who appreciates art and the people who create it. That means everyone you know!
Your family, Facebook friends, arts & community organizations, colleagues, artists and adventurers can be part of the funding fun. Tweet to your heart’s content and help us to make the dream real in any way you can contribute!
IT'S TOO GOOD TO BE ONLY A DREAM!
MAKE IT HAPPEN.
