Be a real-life superhero by helping to make Callum’s wish come true.
For most of us, we can’t even imagine how hard this would be to hear, but for Marie this news was even more shocking … Five years ago Marie was also told the news her husband had cancer, and only three months later he passed away. Marie says “the way cancer
can tragically take someone you love away from you is not new to this family”.
Six year old Callum was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. The intense chemotherapy has meant months of vomiting, pain, hospitals, and nausea - and worst of all, he’s missing out on a normal childhood.
The one thing that gives Callum strength to push through his treatment and long nights spent at the hospital is the powerful superheroes he loves so much.
Marie says “he brings his action figures to hospital and that’s a good distraction from his cancer”. With these brave, strong characters by his side, Marie hopes every day that they’ll give Callum the courage to keep battling his cancer.
Together, we can help bring Callum hope and strength by letting him know that his wish to meet his favourite superheroes - Batman, Superman and Spiderman – will come true.
Marie says, “I first knew something was wrong when Callum wasn’t eating well and seemed very lethargic. He just wasn’t his bright little self. I fought with the doctors to run further tests because I knew deep down something wasn’t right. It was after that
very traumatic period of Callum being stuck with a needle and screaming incessantly that I instantly knew something was seriously wrong”.
“It’s been really hard doing this alone and having to deal with the emotional struggles that another family member has cancer”.
Callum needs superhuman strength to fight his cancer. Granting Callum’s most cherished wish will bring him and his family the hope and strength they need to push through his treatment and overcome his cancer.
We need you to be a real-life superhero so Callum can receive the super-healing power of a wish.
Not only will this wish put a smile on Callum’s face, but big sister Grace will be able to enjoy spending time with her little brother away from the hospital. Grace, 13, has already lost her Dad to cancer. When she found out her brother has cancer she broke
down. Marie shares, “her emotional state fell back to when Daddy died. She was devastated. She didn’t understand what was going on and it terrified her to think she may lose her brother as well”.
There’s no doubt that the courage this family has shown in facing Callum’s leukaemia already makes them superheroes. Which is why we are doing everything we can to create the most amazing experience for this brave little boy and his family.
With your help, Callum, Marie and Grace will be taken on a family adventure to Movie World and Dreamworld where Callum will meet some of his favourite superheros including Batman, Superman and Spiderman. This beautiful family will get to spend a week together
- far away from Callum’s treatment and hospital visits – creating happy family memories that will last a lifetime.
Be a real-life superhero and join us to create an amazing experience that will help this family overcome their battle with cancer.
