We are running a Center for the Sign Language Translation, where we offer 24/7 service of sign language translation online for Deaf people all over Ukraine. We have already been working for 3 month and during this time we have received about 20000 video calls.
Here is a glimpse of what out SL Center does:
- Emergency: We help Deaf people to call any Emergency service they need. In out practice, we have already have numerous cases where police and ambulance brigade communicated with a deaf person with the help of our service.
Without us, a deaf person needs to ask a hearing person to call a respective emergency service on their behalf, but after that the emergency service still struggles in communicating with the deaf person. Normally, they would use pen&paper, which takes lots of time in cases where saving time can save lives.
- Everyday assistance: We have been assisting Deaf people in communication with bank clerks, GPs, nurses, governmental employees on different issues.
Without us, Deaf people have to wait for several weeks before they get a state sponsored sign language interpreter and a quality of this interpreter is often unsatisfactory.

- Employment assistance: we have helped Deaf people to participate in interviews and land jobs in different companies.
Without us, even those companies who might consider hiring a Deaf person, rarely make a sufficient effort to accommodate their communication needs.

We are proud to make a real impact of the lives of Deaf people in Ukraine!
We are based in Ukraine and the government of Ukraine does not have a viable alternative for the deaf. That is why we are negotiating with them a deal to provide our service for free for all deaf people in Ukraine. To get to the point, however, when we get the governmental support, we need additional resources, as we have already exhausted our own funds.
The funding we plan to raise will help us to sustain ourselves for several month until we get the governmental funding. Moreover, we will be able to hire a few more SL interpreters to serve a larger proportion of Deaf people in Ukraine.
If our work seems important to you as much as it is for us, please support us with your donation!
