Empowering Indonesia’s underserved youth through sustainability-centered entrepreneurship
Help us run 2 ethical entrepreneurial bootcamps for FREE for youth in Indonesia’s peripheral towns: Ende in Flores Island and Ambon in Maluku Island.
With your support, we can:
- Deliver a high quality, audience-appropriate learning resources on ethical entrepreneurship
- Boost the number of youth-led ethical enterprises in Indonesia’s less developed regions
- Create a wider diversity of livelihood options available in these areas
- Increase social, environmental and economic resilience of our target regions
Which, at the end, will accelerate the sustainable development of these areas.
Backstory
Today, Indonesia is having one of the largest ever youth groups in its history. This gives us a huge opportunity to accelerate the development of the country from within. However, only 10% of the total youth population are employed; and only 2% of the country’s total population follows the path of entrepreneurship.
As Indonesian youth ourselves, we are privileged to have been exposed to unlimited learning resources and information. This has opened more opportunities for us, not only to develop our business idea, but also to improve our personal skills and knowledge in solving problems in our community.
However, we realize that these amazing opportunities only reach the youth living in major cities. It is unfortunate that the lack of access to educational tools and resources are still hindering more than 60% of Indonesian youth to come up with the necessary solutions for their communities.
"Investment in young people is critical for the present and future prosperity of Indonesia."
- UN Population Funds in Indonesia
We believe, youth is the key towards a sustainable development of our country, and that it is important for every young individual in all parts of Indonesia to be given equal opportunities to reaching their full potential and driving change in their region.
[E]thical is born
Born at For Good, [E]thical offers a program that bridges the gap between young Indonesians and their entrepreneurial aspirations. It is a hands-on educational program on ethical entrepreneurship, that targets university-age students in the peripheral areas of Indonesia.
Theories and concepts, such as circular economy, triple bottom line accounting as well as lean design process will be delivered in an experiential way to give the participants a better understanding on what it takes to create a responsible business.
Organizing bootcamps is just the beginning. Our vision is to create an ecosystem that supports and connects every ethical business in the country so they can thrive and be equipped in joining the global economic integration for sustainable development.
Why Ethical Entrepreneurship?
As we see more and more countries move toward a circular economy, we want to make sure that changes also happen in our region, especially at the ground level. It is important for the youth to have a solid understanding about the core concepts of ethical entrepreneurship and integrate them in their business model.
“We are creating a future generation of entrepreneurs who care about the impact of their actions, socially, economically, and environmentally.”
Your support matters
Our first two bootcamps will happen in east of Indonesia, Ende in Flores Island & Ambon in Maluku Island, two of Indonesia’s underprivileged cities as categorized by the Indonesian government. We believe, here are where [E]thical programs matter and make the most impact.
We are so grateful to be selected as one of 21 projects among 400+ applicants to receive a grant worth of $14,900 from the Young South East Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) through its Seed for the Future program. However, to fully kickstart the project, we still need support from YOU!
The money we raise from this campaign will be used to support our overall expenses, including paying salaries for the people behind the program, designing and producing our communication materials, and bringing in Indonesia’s best experts in the field of entrepreneurship and sustainability as mentors and facilitators in the bootcamp. We do this because we want to make sure that we give the best learning experience for the participants!
This is your opportunity to support and nurture the potential of youth in Indonesia and help them accelerate a sustainable development of their region from the ground-up.
