This project is located in Rwamwanja, Uganda, and is an aspiration of Uganda Taekwondo Federation to open clubs in other settlements, if there is consistent institutional support and some prospect of sustainability. OPM and UNHCR Rwamwanja welcomed the idea very much as there is so little activity being offered at the youth centres, and as contribution to combatting Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV). Six taekwondo demonstration sessions have taken place there and as a result a Congolese practitioner of taekwondo was identified and invited for intensive training as a coach in Kampala. He is offering pro bono training at the youth centre in Rwamwanja. While there is currently no equipment or financial support, there is scope there to open a taekwondo centre that could be included in the Uganda Taekwondo Federation. Thus talented practitioners would be included in national competitions and other activities. Rwamanja is currently home of 77'000 refugees from Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). It's also hosting a large albino refugee population, as they a under threat in their country of origin. More then 61% of them are under 16.
