A number of staff are concerned about the impacts of the ongoing pandemic on colleagues - particularly on supported employees and those without access to a government benefit. This concern is shared from our Street Teams to our Board, with many expressing a desire to provide practical support.
Both the capacity to give to your community and the possibility of receiving relief can support a sense of connectedness, control and belonging. At a time of great uncertainty and hardship, this is good for everyone.
You can contribute as much or as little as you want: if you wish to donate monthly, select one of the three options under 'Rewards'. Or, to make a one-off contribution of an amount you choose, select 'Support this project' without choosing a 'reward'. If you are not in a position to give, there is no pressure or expectation to do so.
The campaign is running from 28th September 2020 to 30th June 2021. All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
The aims of our fund are:
- Provide a way any staff and board members who wish to can support Good Cycles team members experiencing financial hardship related to COVID-19 impacts (‘Recipients’).
- Provide a way to deliver financial support to any staff who reach a crisis situation where they cannot afford essential needs
The definitions of 'crisis' and 'essential needs' are:
- Crisis is based on internal assessment as defined by:
- Financial impacts on a Good Cycles employee related to restriction of Good Cycles business activities and availability of paid employment
- Financial impacts on a Good Cycles employee related to loss of ability to work resulting from COVID-19 infection
- Unforeseen financial hardship leaving an employee of Good Cycles unable to meet their essential needs.
2. Essential Needs include:
- Food
- Utilities
- Housing Costs
- Essential Transport
How we will provide assistance:
- Every employee will receive an email about how to get assistance
- Forms of assistance include grocery vouchers, assistance with transport, or payment of a bill or rent instalment
- Payments will be overseen by the Company Secretary
- Any donations to the Relief Fund not paid out by 30th June 2021 will be used to assist supported employees experiencing a crisis, in accordance with the Relief Fund’s stated aims.
