About This Project
The View Point Company was established as a project to provide jobs for local villagers to harvest, process and export coffee. We have since been using our own resource and funds to run this project. Moving forward, wish to establish ourselves as a social enterprise (now that the project have proved to be successful)
We have not solicited any form of donations during this period but as we aim to be self-sustainable and in order for us to do so, we sincerely need your help.
For The View Point Company to move on to the next stage, we will need to eliminate the manual method of harvesting coffee fruits, which is backbreaking for our villagers. We will require small to medium scale machinery to process, roast and blend the coffee beans. We have secured some small export opportunities and this will allow us to start generating a small but growing income where we will put them into good use. How so? Being self-sustainable allows us to provide long term care.
Why are we doing this? Because we are humans. To allow villagers to have jobs, to feed themselves is giving them a chance to not just survive but to see what is beyond them. Village children is another aspect that drives our passion, orphans especially. We aim to provide a proper shelter, a place they can call home, a place where they can receive basic education and grow up, knowing they have a future and there is hope.
The future, moving forward, is to allow families in the village and around us to adopt this similar method of self-sustainable living. They will be able to tap onto our resources and generate a small income for themselves.
Our initial target of 12,500 will be used to:
- Purchase coffee fruit harvesting equipment
- Purchase parchment and roasting machine
The stretch goal of 35,000 will be used to:
- Acquire a medium sized roasting and grinding machine
- Repair and reinstate part of an orphanage
Some information about the founder. Casey Ong, an avid backpacker, having traveled to the restive locations in South East Asia, decided to give up his corporate lifestyle and establish social enterprises elsewhere. Why? Coming from Singapore, one of the most developed nations in the world, he has seen how life in developing countries change the lives of the poor. No, not for the better but for the worse. He would like to utilize his resources, knowledge, business experience and his experience as a volunteer, to change the lives of the poor for the better. It’s all about HOPE. If there is no hope, then what’s the point?
Like everyone else, we believe, that we can contribute to society, not by just giving but also, by building, teaching and guiding others to disrupt the cycle of poverty. We believe children are the next generation to build what we were unable to. A society where people care for others more, help each other, save the environment and of course, eliminate the poverty trap.
We need to start somewhere and The View Point Company is our start. The ball has started to roll and here is where we seek help from everywhere to help us keep this ball rolling.
