According to recent studies, Haiti is considered the poorest country in the world with a poverty rate of 77 percent. This poverty affects all aspects of everyday life, including housing, nutrition, education, healthcare, infant mortality rates, as well as environment. Around 60 percent of the population lives on less than $1.00 a day causing it to be the third hungriest country in the world. Only fifty percent of children living in Haiti are able to go to school, while 30 percent of those only progress to the fifth grade. The poverty cycle is devastating.
Now for some good news...God loves ALL of His children and you can be part of sharing that love by helping Haitians!
We are partnering with our brothers and sisters at United Christians International to host our 3rd annual youth camp in Caiman, Haiti. UCI does amazing work to support their community and broader Haiti through high quality education, feeding malnourished children, medical care, church planting, irrigation, agriculture, clean water, sanitation, and constructing houses for the people.
We are so blessed to play a small part in their efforts with another camp taking place July 9th-13th where will we host the "2018 Coupe des Jeunes du Nord" (Youth Cup of Northern Haiti). This year's camp will be extra special because the 2018 World Cup will be going on in Russia so we are very excited to give the community a version of their own spirited tournament. We're going bigger than ever with over 180 campers coming from rural villages around northern Haiti to participate in the rare opportunity of an organized camp where we will use soccer as a platform to build community, emphasize the importance of education and share the gospel. All campers will receive meals, water, dorms, custom jerseys and of course have tons of time for fun with each other through out the week!
If you are interested in supporting these efforts to bring light and love to youth in Haiti, we would greatly appreciate donations. 100% of funds will go directly to UCI which is a registered 501c3 non-profit who will administer the money towards camp needs (meals, equipment, fields, jerseys, referees, etc.) while the remaining funds raised will go directly towards the campers school tuition and other education costs. Our hope is to inspire the youth of Haiti to break the poverty cycle and raise up their nation for future generations!
In addition to financial support, we would greatly appreciate your prayers for God to move and reveal the love of Jesus to the youth and their communities. "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." (Mathew 5:3)
We are so grateful for the opportunity to serve and really REALLY appreciate your support!
Peace, love, Godspeed!
