Who We Are
Launching in Indianapolis,
Inspired Magazine is a one-of-a-kind print and digital magazine 100% written, designed, and produced by Kids. We are showcasing Kids art, writing, music, science, photography, video and other creative and amazing things done by Kids.
During pre-launch, we established major community networks, received content contributions, confirmed school and community distribution locations, produced sample magazines, kicked off a successful television public relations campaign, activated social media,
and secured a nonprofit financial sponsor.
With its first magazine launching in February 2014, Inspired Magazine is primed to truly begin making an impact in Kids’ lives by acknowledging and celebrating local Kids’ tremendous talents and inspiring others to dream big and reach for the stars.
We are a nonprofit entity through the financial sponsorship of
Pro(ACT) Community Partnerships, Inc., a dynamic youth nonprofit with a mission to teach and provide unique service projects to expose students to serve others with the goal of empowering them to be emerging community leaders, based in Indianapolis.
We have gained notable support from several local, regional and national organizations the past six months while introducing our idea and our plans. The overwhelming response to Inspired has been "wow, what a great idea!" and we appreciate all the support
and enthusiasm around our efforts. Recently we have connected with the Fishers YMCA where Inspired will become the foundational piece of the expansion of their Media Center to include Graphic Design. Our goals include providing Kids the opportunity to work
real-life production of our magazine as a great learning experience for Kids considering Graphic Design or related, as a career or school path.
We will begin this process with the Fishers YMCA providing training, direction and our experiences using Adobe Software, and we will be introducing this new program in Mid-February. We hope to expand this type of training and opportunities to schools who
teach Kids how to creative using Adobe Software and already discussions are in place with BroadRipple High School, University High School and several more. We have also begun exploring with Junior Achievement of Central Indiana, The Indianapolis Arts Center,
Girls Rock, The Noetic Institute, All Pro Dads and several others, to how we can together Inspire the Kids these organization are already impacting and working with.
Our network is strong and growing and your support will allow us to continue to work innovatively with others To Inspire Kids.
Our Mission
Our mission is To Inspire Kids. We provide Kids an opportunity to share their work and get published. Teachers have shared the measurable benefits of Kids being published where their learning, retention and confidence increase.
Our Project and Why It Matters
Self-esteem has become a national crisis in this country. Inspired Magazine was created as a tool to inspire Kids (primarily aged 10-18). Young people need adults to understand what they are going through and people to care about them and their interests
without a personal agenda. Inspired Magazine is by an avenue where they can find confidence in themselves and be afforded a sense of achievement, as well as a way for them to use their expressions and talents to inspire each other.
It takes a lot of confidence to be a Kid and to develop an “I can do it” attitude. Growing through the tween and teen years can be a confusing and emotional time. Building self-esteem and confidence is vital to their successful transition as a fulfilled, community-serving
adult. They build self-confidence not because we tell them they are “great” but because we celebrate their achievements, large and small. Inspired Magazine is a professional magazine that celebrates Kid achievements in a public forum otherwise not offered
to today’s Kids.
Inspired Magazine is a teaching tool and resource for educators and schools. Teachers are seeing amazing work from their Kids everyday and what better way to share this work with others by encouraging these Kids to submit to Inspired Magazine and incorporating
Inspired Magazine in the classroom.
We will provide lesson plans, curriculum, workshops and more to assist teachers and schools in utilizing our free teaching tool.
Inspired Magazine can also be used by other organizations working with, serving, and providing amazing opportunities to Kids.
The Indianapolis YMCA is currently integrating curriculum provided by Inspired Magazine.
We are a venue for your Kids to share their experiences to inspire other Kids. We welcome conversations, exploration and partnerships with like-minded individuals, organizations and others To Inspire Kids.
