What change could we see if people who already have knowledge and experience started sharing it? What would you feel if you could take a least one person from the deepest poverty and teach them how to be self-sustaining?
Please read on. I am very excited to share this new project!
My name is Dmitriy and I had my first missionary
trip in 2000 (Tanzania) where I was a part of a team of volunteers who helped building a school in one of the poorest villages in Tanzania. Later on I had two more trips to Uganda, where we helped building rain water collectors and storage tanks.
As time passed I noticed that it’s much better to teach someone to be self-sustaining rather than simply provide the basic daily needs. So I thought to start teaching others of what I knew myself, share my skills and knowledge. One way I’ve
been meeting this personal goal is through Geekhub, an initiative in my home town which provides free IT skills development courses to kick start the careers of aspiring young developers. I've been coaching there for two years now.
This winter, the
Mission Impossible project (Ukraine) is sending a small team to Kolkata, India, in support of a local charity there which provides care, education and support for children living on the streets (Emmanuel
Ministries Calcutta).
My great desire is to go as part of this team and to run a small IT class for street teens there in Kolkata. This will be a three week course where students will learn the basics of front-end development skills. At the end of the course
they’ll be able to make basic websites and consider getting freelance jobs.
Students will have a chance to attend the IT classroom afterwards and keep on learning or even working. This would be an amazing opportunity for them to change their lives for the better, to allow them to dream of futures in which meeting their own
needs and even sustaining a family could become a tangible reality.

Each team member does a tremendous job raising funds for their particular trip (costs needed for accommodation and flight). We set up entertainment evenings where we talk of our plans to others, let them aware of our desires to do some good, set up auctions,
concerts etc.
This year we want to try raising money through StartSomeGood in order to get the required equipment for this particular class to ensure that everybody can become a part of this great project. We need YOU to help make this project possible!
