Visual Education Project is starting a campaign to raise money for a permanent home for the exhibits that we use in our educational workshops.
We give students a knowledge of how contemporary technologies came to us throughout the ages. We make education dynamic with several collections of machines, most of which are
interactive, that students can operate. It’s an immersive experience that allows visitors to participate in their own education.
Exhibition “History of Engineering” consists of unique hand-made models/replicas [over 70 items] of ancient and medieval machines and mechanisms that can be divided into several
thematic categories such as Ancient and Medieval Water raising Machines, Ancient Siege Engines, Inventions of Leonardo da Vinci, Construction Machines of the Renaissance etc.
For the past seven years, we have worked as a mobile museum in collaboration with School Boards, universities and other educational institutions in Ontario. Our programs became very popular; we received great feedback
from schools’ students and mentors.
We run a Virtual museum (http://www.veproject1.org) that was visited by more than 1-million
visitors and every day we get a question about our permanent location where people could come to see our machines.
Unfortunately, we’re unable to work as a mobile museum anymore because of models’ damages associated with transportation. Also, it takes a lot of time and money to transport
models, set up a demonstration space and bring models back to the storage.
With our permanent home, we could significantly increase the number of visitors and the quality of educational programs (we could use every square foot for exhibits and printed
materials as well as for storage). We could build a workshop in the Centre to be open for visitors where they could see and be involved in the process of making models. With permanent space we could add more exhibits!!!
We do believe that with your support we can achieve our goal!
