State Street Ballet's Library Dances is celebrating its fifth season
by bringing arts education back into the classroom in two exciting new
ways!
Under the direction of Rich Lashua and choreographer Cecily Stewart,
Santa Barbara Junior High Performing Arts Club students will present
"The Twelfth Night" like you've never seen it before! Acting, dancing,
even singing, this show will have you laughing until you cry and dancing
in your seat! Plus don't miss very special performances by State Street
Ballet dancers Courtney Hanaway, Kate Gonzales, Nick Topete, and John
Piel, who will mentor and perform alongside these lucky students. As an
added bonus, several hundred Santa Barbara students will be treated to a
sneak preview of the show, giving them a chance to see Shakespeare,
live dance, and a fantastic collaboration between students and
professionals. Please consider making a donation to match the funding
given by The Léni Fé Bland Performing Arts Partnership to make this very
special experience possible for so many students.
Plus! Don't miss your chance to support our new arts initiative,
"Dancers in the Classroom". This week long residence program will be
taking place at La Colina Junior High, Goleta Valley Junior High, and
Santa Barbara Junior High. Students will learn the basics ballet,
contemporary, and improvisation, as well as what it means to have a
career in the arts. Students will also be involved in a multi-faceted
exploration of dance throughout history, complete with special guest
performances in the classroom by State Street Ballet dancers! This is
one interactive week that will have students pursuing new skills and
examining new ideas through the unique lens of performing arts.
Your tax deductible donation can give our students these incredible opportunities!
