Low Carbon Living Blue Mountains is a website, community education and member program established in 2014 by the Blue Mountains World Heritage Institute. We now have over 80 Low Carbon Living members who take our energy, waste and water carbon audit to measure their carbon footprint and adopt recommendations to lower their carbon usage.
At Low Carbon Living we are:

- looking to grow our member base and raise much needed funds to continue our work in addressing climate change.
Our community education and outreach process supports schools and small to medium sized businesses to reduce their carbon footprint and allows you to reduce yours by supporting them!

Memberships (for businesses, schools and households): Households normally $65, now $50; sole traders normally $165, now $130, small businesses normally $330, now $270, medium businesses normally $550 now $440; large businesses normally $880 now $700.
Our members are already seeing positive results that benefit their business and reduce their costs, for example:
- Bendigo bank, Summit Gear and the Fairmont have added solar panels
- Lyttleton Stores and Rooster Restaurant have switched to Powershop who only invest in renewables
- The Escarpment Group of four hotels - the Hydo Majestic, Parklands, Lillianfels and Echos Boutique - have diverted compostable waste from landfill and reduced their carbon from waste by 26%
- Winmalee High and Scenic World introduced water bottle filling stations and biodegradable food and beverage packaging
- Explorer Bus have become Australia’s first carbon neutral transport company by reducing their carbon usage and offsetting via Australia’s National Carbon Accounting System
