The Model NATO Youth Summit builds on a tradition of similar simulations in various countries, but the uniqueness of this event comes from the fact that it is unprecedented in scale and global reach, with participants from all parts of the world attending.
It will take place between July 8-13 in Brussels, Begium.
The aim for this event is to educate undergraduate students in political science and international relations about global security issues, teach them about the dynamics that affect global politics, and reproduce the methods and procedures by which salient
issues are apporached and resolved in real-world scenarios. The whole event is put on by students volunteering their time and effort, amidst important academic committments, to make this unique event a reality.
I am Georgi Ivanov. My job is to be the Secretary General of this simulation and my direct responsiiblity involves guiding and training 12 students to develop the agenda issues, assist undergraduate student delegates in forming their respective country foreign
policies, and acting as committee chairs during the simulation.
$2,000 Tipping Point Goal
Details on use of funds:
1. Financing event materiel: name badges, delegate packages (including agenda and instructions), posters and promotings
2. Logistics: travel expenses for event speakers and organizers
3. Venue expenses: a portion will be devoted to costs related to catering for delegates and guests, as well as renting spaces.
If we reach our tipping goal, we'll be able to assure that all organizers are present and contributing, every event charge is met on time and ultimately, gain enough support for a second edition in 2013.At request, we can make available a budget in the aftermath
of the event.
The tipping goal is $2000 and the extra $500, should they be raised, will be used for several aims:
1. Creating more comprehensive delegate packages - for example, including details on the second edition of the event in 2013, or more comprehensive biographies or organizers and guests to the event.
2. Producing a better website, with more interactive features (videos, for example), more updates and more opportunities for itneraction between participants and organizers than just using it as a top-down vertical information tool.
