We are "Soleil Indien", a humanitarian association from the french business school "Ecole de management de Normandie" which spends 2 months in India each year in order to improve the learning conditions of underpriviliged children and therefore help them escape the vicious circle of poverty they were born into.
Since 2011 Soleil Indien has helped to improve the living conditions in a little town in the south of India, Manamadurai, constructing the school Puluvappadi in the region of Tamil Nadu which is near Chennai.
Thanks to the help of the association, the need in Manamadurai has shrunk significantly, so that we decided to find another project when forming the new team in autumn 2016. We ended up finding our project in the town of Anantapur in the region Andhra Pradesh which is also situated in the south of India.
We are planning to start the renovation work at the beginning of May and we are going to restore class rooms and the sanitary facilities. The rest of the money will be used to buy equipment such as books, blackboards, tables, chairs and stationary.
Simultaneously, we are going to run a holiday program for the children as they are on summer holiday during that time. The programme consists of different classes that are both educative and sportive. Moreover we are going to give english classes to the teachers of the school, which we think is the most sustainable way to ensure a good education for the children of the school in the future.
