What are we doing?
The
City of Surrey has grown at a phenomenal rate in the last 5 years! As it
continues to grow, it is becoming quite obvious that we have an "unmet
need" in our community.
Why are we doing it?
This need is to create a safe place for our kids to play
that is a reasonable distance from their homes. Currently, there are 2-City
Parks within the city limits of Surrey. Although this may seem adequate for a
town the size of Surrey, neither of the two current parks are centrally
located. For a child living in the southern half of our community, the average
distance is well over 1-mile. Again, this may not seem like a long distance for
a school-aged child, adolescent, or even for parents pushing their preschoolers
in strollers, however, this is where the "safety" factor comes into
play. There are 2-(EXTREMELY BUSY) Railroad Crossings to cross to get to either
one of these parks. Unfortunately, our children are constantly distracted these
days, and the chance for an accident to occur at not one, but two sets of
Railroad Tracks is a huge concern for our Community.
Our Team...
The Surrey Park Board is currently in the "Site Selection" process for the Southwest area of Surrey and they hope to start building in the Spring of 2019!
How others can help...
The
Surrey Park District is currently accepting any and all donations to start the
landscaping process and the purchasing of playground equipment. If you are able to make a donation, it would make an
extremely-positive impact on our Community and the children that reside within
it!! Simply donate to our crowdfunding campaign by selecting a reward from the list on the right.
Thank you for your consideration, we are so grateful for your support!
