With an estimated five trillion pieces of plastic in the world’s oceans, we wanted to find a solution to the single-use plastic bags that many people use to help them slide into their wetsuits.
The result is Surf Sock - a 100% recycled alternative that works better than plastic bags. Made from sail offcuts destined for landfill, Surf Socks are strong and reusable. They can be used by anyone who wears a wetsuit - surfers, windsurfers, kayakers, divers, ocean swimmers and tri-athletes - and double as a handy bag for keys, wax, sunnies etc.
We're also developing a range of splash-proof bags made from other grades of sail offcuts that are not only super functional but look cool too!
ETHICAL - SUSTAINABLE - AUSTRALIAN MADE
Developed with strong ethical and environmental principals and supported by credible organisations such as Surfrider Foundation Australia, we are proud to be Australian Made. We know that people love our products, that the market potential is huge and that to combat plastic waste we need to offer lasting and affordable solutions ... but we need your help.
OUR GOAL
Our goal is to raise $20,000. This will allow us to move production from our homes to a commercial workplace, to buy an industrial sewing machine and to expand our range of sailcloth off-cut products (such as our re-Sail products) using more sewers who need a helping hand.
OUR MISSION
It is estimated that by 2050 there will be more plastic in our oceans than fish.
By creating recycled products that replace the need to use plastic bags, Surf Sock is reducing both plastic pollution and waste heading for landfill.
We believe in giving back, and $1 from the sale of each Surf Sock will be donated to Surfrider Foundation Australia which has been working at a grass roots level to keep our oceans clean for over 25 years.
By supporting Surf Sock and its sister brand re-Sail, you’ll be helping to grow ethical manufacturing in Australia.
