WELCOME STUDIO
We are Welcome Studio, a social enterprise using art to support and welcome refugees and people seeking asylum in Australia. We do this in a few ways, through :
- running art workshops and projects within refugee communities
- building a movement of 'welcome' towards those coming to our shores as asylum seekers and refugees
- financially contributing to House of Welcome, an asylum seeker support centre in Western Sydney.
HOW WE DO IT
To finance our work and to contribute to House of Welcome we sell illustrative art-prints contributed by our Welcome Studio artists. We sell these at markets, online and in a few stores around Sydney.
Since launching in May we have received a lot of support and have grown quite a bit, but we want to keep growing and see our prints in stores across Sydney and Australia. The more prints we sell, the bigger impact we can make in supporting and welcoming refugees.
THE PROBLEM
At the moment we are outsourcing our printing. While it gives our prints such a great quality, it is costly and takes time. If we can buy a printer that allows our work to have the same amazing quality, we can more than halve our printing costs, save time and work more independently.
The time and money we save will go straight into resourcing and growing our projects, plus we can start approaching more shops to sell our products. This is going to make a massive difference in how big our social impact can be, and will give us so much more potential to create an even bigger positive change in our community.
