Psykinetic was founded by Dr Jordan Nguyen when he realised much more needed to be done for those with disability in Australia and beyond, and today's technology could provide many solutions we seek. Psykinetic is based on more than a decade of research and inclusive technology creations, from thought-controlled smart wheelchairs to eye-controlled vehicles, to virtual reality experiences and virtual tourism, to these inclusive technologies we're aiming to launch which will form the start of a range of empowering products. Psykinetic is slowly amassing an extraordinary team, united under the vision of creating a better world, with team members including Nick Temple, Riley Saban, Jess Irwin, Ivan Tadic, Tim Prosser, Shaun Dougherty and other expert advisors and contributors. Potential partnerships are growing and many good relationships are forming, so we decided now is a perfect time to engage our supporting community.
Let's start with a few big things that happened in 2016 leading up to this campaign:
1. 'Becoming Superhuman' aired on the ABC
Watch 'Becoming Superhuman' Part 1 of 2 on ABC iView
The Becoming Superhuman part 2 is now available, too.
2. Jess Irwin plays music alongside the Australia Piano Quartet at the Sydney Opera House using Psykinetic's first eye-controlled music creation technology
Our White and Black Psykinetic shirts have arrived! (Available in Women's and Men's, any size, we'll get details at the end of the campaign - Select rewards "On The Team", "Team Player" or any reward above these to receive these awesome designs)
WHAT WE ARE PLANNING
With the use of an off-the-shelf tablet PC and eye-tracker, we have been working on a few products we're ready to take to the next level. They're like building blocks of software that harness the same hardware (tablet PC and eye-tracker) for many different purposes. The first of these are:
1. Super fast eye-controlled text-to-speech, to use your eyes to speak at speeds up to and above 30 words per minute. Our Superhuman Riley has been working on this with us and is ready to help us finalise and launch with your support.
2. Eye-controlled music creation, allowing you to add your instruments of choice, layer, play individual notes and record. This is what our Rockstar Jess Irwin used to perform at the Sydney Opera House alongside the Australia Piano Quartet. Jess is now ready to help us take this to launch with your support.
We will also build an easy method to allow you the community to let us know what you think, and what you'd like us to update in the designs we already have, even after we launch them and you start using them. We will build and update our devices around you.
LET'S BE AMBITIOUS
If we reach our target our first stretch goal will be to start work immediately on creating and launching an eye-controlled cognitive assessment for children with high-level physical disability, to help parents and families understand their cognitive abilities.
TIME TO LAUNCH!
The time has finally arrived for us all to work together. We would love your support to help us launch a range of life-changing projects and take some big steps towards creating an inclusive society for everyone!
