What We Do:
- We believe in mentors, and provide one-year mentorship programs to guide disadvantaged youth in their daily lives. We want to show our youth and parents that we care about them all year round because we believe that consistency in a young person's life is important. We will provide a personal mentor for each child who will encourage, listen and guide the child to success.
- We host multi-week summer camps to teach youth life skills. Once students have completed four summers of camps, we will provide them a partial scholarship to attend college.
- We also believe that parental involvement is paramount and provide parent education classes. Our goal is to provide parents living below the poverty line with the tools to become proactive and involved in the lives of their children.
We are responding to the growing need for disadvantaged youth in Salt Lake City to succeed. Approximately 11% of households in the State of Utah live below the poverty line, and a further 62% of students in the Salt Lake School District live in poverty. For students struggling with social and economic setbacks, they are faced with a challenging hurdle to access higher education and live out their potential.
We started this non-profit with a passion to speak life and inspire youth aged 11-17 to achieve more than they could ever imagine. We know that many youth from inner city schools lack some of the basic needs to reach their potential.
We are working hand-in-hand with gang prevention specialists in the largest school district in Salt Lake City to be another resource to engage disadvantaged youth in year-round mentorship programs, to run summer youth camps, and equip parents to create a nurturing home for their child’s growth through parent education classes.
It takes a village to raise a child and we want to invite you to make a contribution that will guide Salt Lake City inner-city youth to becoming leaders that can change the world.
