Thank you for visiting this webpage. I trust you'll be inspired about how you are able to help make a world of change for a remote village in the Solomon Islands.
Background
Last year the first Wrecked for Water campaign was held to raise funds to purchase a solar water pumping system for Fa'arau Village, located on Malaita island, Solomon Islands. In April 2014 my Dad and I travelled to Fa'arau and assisted in the successful
installation of this water pump system, which is now continuing to provide a water supply for around 250 local people. To see the previous fundraiser

The Need
This year we have been in contact with Ngadiafiu Village of around 100 people, who are also in need of a water supply. Ngadiafiu is located on the top of a hill around 40 minutes from Fa'arau by truck. Currently the locals walk 150 m down a steep and slippery
slope to collect their water which they carry back up the hill to the village for drinking and cooking. Their water collection is from the end of a pipe which transfers water from a stream 3 km away from the village and relies on gravity feed.
A Solution
Our aim is to extend the water supply directly up to the village by installing a pumping system. The water will then be discharged into a tank at the village for the locals to access water via a tap. We are still currently developing and discussing the most
suitable and cost effective water supply option for the community. These options include:
* A solar powered water pump located midway along the existing pipeline
* A water-powered water pump located at the source stream
The estimated total cost for the pumping system and fittings is $2,500, however this will become clearer as the selected water solution is confirmed by the village representatives. An initial milestone of $1,700 has been set to allow for purchase of water
pump only.
Fundraiser Challenge
In order to raise funds to purchase this water pump for Ngadiaflu a challenge has been set. The challenge is to
run/scramble the top ten peaks of Australia in one day in an effort to get water to the top of the hill for Ngadiafiu Village. The course is 55 km long circuit starting from Charlottes Pass and involves running
on the main range loop as well as scrambling up to the top of each peak along the way. The full track map can be seen at the following website:

I will be completing this challenge with my newly aquainted and inspiring friend Gary Brown, who has completed several marathons over the last 18 months, each of which he used as an opportunity to raise funds for worthy charities. Gary also is involved in
social work and has a heart for helping others.
This challenge is not easy, however we're ready and willing to get "Wrecked for Water"!
The plan is to complete this challenge on April 18th, 2015.
If you would like to join in supporting on this run, whether it be completing a section of the run or providing snacks/drinks along the way, then please contact me at:
